Lord, let my attitude reflect my love for you. Help me to cling to You and Your Word no matter where this day takes me. AMEN.

I absolutely love the reading from the One Year Bible today as it speaks into fear. (Click here to read today’s portion of the One Year Bible.)
When I cry out to You,
Then my enemies will turn back;
This I know, because God is for me.
In God (I will praise His word),
In the Lord (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
Vows made to You are binding upon me, O God;
I will render praises to You,
For You have delivered my soul from death.
Have You not kept my feet from falling,
That I may walk before God
In the light of the living?
My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help.
This I know: God is on my side!
I praise God for what he has promised;
yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?
I will fulfill my vows to you, O God,
and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.
For you have rescued me from death;
you have kept my feet from slipping.
So now I can walk in your presence, O God,
in your life-giving light.
What do you do when you are afraid? Do you worry? Do you cry? Do you hide in one way or another? Psalm 56 gives us wonderful instruction for those times in life when we feel afraid. I have to believe that if I walk through these steps when I feel afraid or nervous or uncertain that my outlook will change. Psalm 56 says we should:
I don’t know what you are facing today, but I do know we all have our fears. I want to encourage you in light of these verses. Remember who God is; stop and ponder the true character of His heart – He is a good, good Father. As you remember, lift your heart and your mind and your hands in praise. Praise ushers in hope. Choose trust over fear. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. As you set your heart to trust Him, keep the promises you have made even if they are difficult to live out. Let your trust in Him get you through your moments of weakness.
Prayer for you today:
Thank You that You are faithful and good. Help us to remember this when fear rushes in. Prompt us to flood our hearts with Your truths when we begin to doubt. Let us praise and trust and remember each day. Fill our hearts with hope.
In Your Trustworthy Name,
I love how this song so expresses the thoughts of this passage.
